宮城県牡鹿郡女川町にあるゆめハウスの紹介です。
We went to the Yume House (Dream House) in the town of Oshika in Onagawa, Miyagi Prefecture.
津波の高さは２０メートルにも達したため、山間の集落までもが全壊の被害となりました。
Onagawa had the highest mortality rate in the Great East Japan Earthquake (55.9%).
The height of the tsunami reached to 20 meters, such that even mountain villages were completely damaged.
その津波の恐ろしさを伝える建物が今も残っています。
Buildings that convey the horror of the tsunami still remain.
そんな甚大な被害のあった女川町高白浜に、唯一残った倉庫がありました。
At Takashirohama in Onagawa, the damage was so extent that only a warehouse remained.
そのスペースを活用し、現在ゆめハウスカフェがオープンしています。
Utilizing this space, the Yume House Cafe was opened.
「地域で支え合うコミュニティ作りを」と、全国や世界中から集まったTシャツを使って、お母さんたちがぞうりや鍋敷きを作って販売したり、震災で自分の船を失ってしまったお父さんたちが畑仕事をしてイチジクやニンニク、唐辛子などを作っています。
They run a project called “Community Creation to Support the Region”. The women use t-shirts that were gathered as donations from around the country and world to make sandals, pan holders, etc. The men, who lost their fishing boats in the disaster, are employed in the farms, where they grow figs, garlic, peppers, etc. They are selling these things (to support their community).
そして、カフェではお母さんたちの考えた栄養満点の日替わりランチと、畑で採れたイチジクで作った女川名物「イチジクの甘煮」などをいただくことができます。
In addition, the women at the café prepare a healthy daily lunch. One of their specialties is sweat figs.
ナント！！！ こちらのランチが５００円です。
そしてご飯はお代わり自由！
Amazingly, this lunch costs only 500 yen, and rice refills are free!
現在は、このコミュニティハウスに若い方たちも加わり、趣味の良いアンティーク風の雑貨やプランターなどを手作りし販売もしています。
Currently, younger people have joined their community house. They are helping to make and sell handmade goods, such as plant holders and antique-looking goods.
震災から約３年半が経った現在、被災地では、今でも仮設住宅で暮らしている方たちがたくさんいます。
そして、これから復興住宅へ移り住み、再び新たなコミュニティを作らなくてはならないという現状があります。
Three and a half years have passed since the earthquake, but there are many better who are still living in temporary housing in the affected areas.
Now housing reconstruction is taking place, and they are working on making a new community.
家や仕事、家族を失った方たち、中でも高齢の方たちの仕事や生活の復興は難しく、慣れない生活環境の中で、生活面での復興も大きな問題となっています。
For people who have lost their families, homes, and jobs, it is difficult to create a new living environment. It is especially difficult for the elderly. Reconstruction is a major problem, as they are forced to relocate to different areas.
時は流れていて、人々のニーズも変わっていきます。
津波に流された方、家を失った方、友達や家族を失った方、仕事を失った方、全てを失った方、、、
それぞれの方たちにそれぞれの悲しみや苦しみがあります。
As time passes, the people’s needs change.
Having one’s home, friends and family, jobs, and everything washed away in the tsunami, creates sorrow and suffering.
それでも、自分の働ける場所があれば、仲間がいれば、変わらないコミュニティや自分の生きがいがあれば、というオーナー八木さんの「必要な時に必要な支援を」という想いが、この場所にはたくさん反映されています。
Despite this, having a place to work, familiar people around you, can help create the feeling of a community that has not changed. It provides a purpose in life. The owner (of Yume House), Mrs. Yagi, thinks that it is necessary in this situation of need, in this place, to have these feelings of support.
東日本大震災で、この倉庫の２階部分１,５メートルのところまで津波がきたそうです。
それでも、延べ５００名のボランティアさんたちが協力し、このゆめハウスの再建を手伝ったそうです。
The Great East Japan Earthquake sent the tsunami 1.5 meters over the second floor of this warehouse.
Over 500 volunteers came to help reconstruct the Yume House.
今では、２階の窓から毎日いろいろな色に変わる女川湾を見渡すことができます。
Now, you can overlook from the second floor window the variety of colors that the Onagawa Bay emits.
オーナーの八木さんは言います。
「たくさんの人たちがここに会いに来てくれることで、ここで働く皆さんは生きててよかったと思うことができます。そんな人たちをもっともっと増やしていきたい。」
Mrs. Yagi says: "The fact that a lot of people get to meet up here, that they get to work here, this lets them think how good it is that they survived. We want more and more people to have this experience."
みんなの「夢」が詰まったゆめハウス。
The Yume House is a place where everyone’s Dream is housed.
